Do I need an iPad to read an iBooks Textbook?
No. To read an iBooks Textbook, you have two options:
- iPad® with iBooks® 3 or later and iOS 5.1 or later
- Mac® with iBooks 1.0 or later and OS X 10.9 or later.

How do I buy an iBook Textbook?
You can buy an iBooks Textbook from an iPad or from a Mac. Just make sure you've already downloaded iBooks first from the App Store℠. Then follow these instructions.
- Go to hmhco.com/ibookstextbooks
- Click on the iBooks Textbook you want to purchase. You'll be taken to a description page.
- Click View in iTunes. It opens up iTunes.
- Click Buy Book underneath the book cover.
- Follow the prompts from there. The iBooks Textbook will load into iBooks on your device.
Do I need an Internet connection to read an iBooks Textbook?
You will need an internet connection to download the iBooks Textbook from iTunes and to watch certain videos that must be streamed to view.
Can I use in place of my print textbook?
The iBooks Textbooks do contain all of the same content as the print book—plus bonus features and tools. However, you should always ask your teacher about any policy regarding bringing devices into the classroom. In addition, the page numbers differ from the print book in case your teacher assigns work by page numbers.
