Meet the duo who has made this program a success.
Bonnie Bowen - Program Author
Bonnie Bowen has taught AP* Spanish Language & Literature in California public high schools during most of her teaching career. She studied at the Colegio Americano de Quito, which was founded by her parents, at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, and she holds an M.A. from California State University, Fresno, in Spanish-American literature. She is a recipient of the California Language Teachers’ Association Outstanding Teacher Award. A Consultant for the College Board since 1989, she served as AP Spanish Reader, Table Leader, and Question Leader for almost 20 years. She has also written a number of the special-focus articles posted on AP Central’s Spanish Literature Home Page.
The Bowens are the editors of the Holt McDougal series Abriendo puertas: ampliando perspectivas. This Spanish anthology has now been joined by an all-new website, Abriendo puertas Online, designed to respond to the revised AP Spanish Literature & Culture curriculum launched in Fall 2012. In concert, the Abriendo puertas anthology series provides full pedagogical support for teachers embracing the exciting challenges and broadened perspectives of the revised AP Spanish Literature and Culture exam.
Wayne Bowen - Program Author
Wayne Bowen earned his Ph.D. in Romance Languages at the Ohio State University. He taught at the University of California, Davis, and is Professor Emeritus at California State University, Fresno. He lived in Mexico City on two separate occasions and studied at Mexico City College, now the Universidad de las Américas Puebla.
