Game Synopsis
The world's most infamous criminal and her gang of henchmen have returned and they're up to their old tricks. Around the world, famous monuments are vanishing right off their pedestals. Thefts of precious jewels are being reported. Landmarks have been turned to dust and V.I.L.E. villains have been seen skulking through the streets in places as far flung as Greece, Brazil, Russia, India, and the U.S.
We have to recover these world treasures, but the bigger question is why Carmen wants them in the first place? Is she just sowing chaos for fun or is she working on something larger? It's up to you to find out!
The only thing that stands in the way of Carmen's schemes is you and your ability to solve the puzzles leading to her whereabouts. To do that, you'll need street smarts, lots of creative thinking, and solid math skills because this is more than just a game—it is an adventure in math!

Chapter 1: The Lady Liberty Larceny
Bad news, Detective! Someone's taken a bite out of the Big Apple!
The Statue of Liberty has disappeared—vanished right out of the harbor—and we're pretty sure she didn't just go out for a stroll. And there's only one criminal organization that could pull off such an audacious crime—V.I.L.E!
Witnesses describe strange lights in the sky and a thick fog that rolled in during the night when no fog was predicted. Mysterious noises could be heard within. Even though ships are constantly coming and going in that area, few people could give us any concrete clues. But we did catch a break.
Luckily for us, one of our former agents is a security guard working right on Liberty Island. The only problem is that he may be missing, too. If you can find him, he may be able to show you some leads.
The Chief wants our best agent on this case, so grab your gear—you're heading to New York City!

Chapter 2: The Big Ben Burglary
Bad news, detective. Those vicious villains of V.I.L.E are at it yet again.
Every time we think we've put a stop to their trouble, they come up with a new scheme to vex us. And this time those ding-a-lings have struck Big Ben in London, England!
The villains boosted the bell from the famous Westminster tower sometime last night. We might know what time they did it, except they took the clock, too! London is the most visited city in the world and tourist flock here to see this famous symbol of the United Kingdom. We have to help find this monument. The London police have been working the case non-stop, but so far they haven't found up any leads. They're appealing to us for help. And that's exactly what we're going to do.

Chapter 3: The Case of the Crumbling Cathedral
It looks like Carmen and her dastardly crew from V.I.L.E. is back in action once more. They’ve been laying low for a while, but last night they struck at the heart of nation by apparently turning St. Basil’s Cathedral into sand! The Russian government is perplexed and they’ve asked the ACME Detective Agency to take over the investigation.
We don’t have a lot of information to go on. All we know is that the Cathedral was there in all its kaleidoscopic glory one night—and the next morning the only thing that remained were piles of sand and a strange electric charge on the cool morning breeze that sent sensational shivers through passer-bys.
The Moscow police are chasing several leads, but we’re pretty sure that V.I.L.E. left behind false information to confuse them and throw them off the scent of the real bad guys. And that’s where we come in.
We need a top notch investigator to fly to Russia and find out exactly what happened to their missing monument. So, we’re sending you. Dust off your ushanka, agent, because you’re on your way to Moscow!

We got breaking news from Mumbai, India this morning. The Gateway of India was stolen just a few hours ago. The Gateway is a giant stone archway that is one of the most famous symbols of the city and Mumbai is absolutely mortified at this monumental mess!
Mumbai is the biggest city in India. A modern center of learning and commerce, Mumbai is a blend of the old and new. Full of spicy foods and bright colors, it is also famous for its Bollywood studios and a movie industry that that puts out nearly a thousand films every year!
But before you go all "movie star" on us, we need you to look around and see if you can find any clues about what happened to the Gateway. A monument that heavy doesn’t disappear overnight. Except that this one did.

My gumshoe gut tells me that Carmen Sandiego herself was behind this string of crimes. She used her henchmen and the thefts of famous landmarks to distract our agents and cover her trail. But hunches and guesswork won't put Carmen behind bars. What we need are facts—and we need them fast or else Carmen might just get away with it!
